The ThinkForest event ‘Building an innovative and resilient forest bioeconomy’ was held at the International Press Center, Brussels on 15 November 2016.

How to build an innovative and resilient forest bioeconomy was the subject of discussion among speakers, panellists and the audience. Discussions focused on:

  • The potential the forest-based bioeconomy has to offer for sustainable growth and new investments in the EU
  • How new technologies could bring ‘added value’
  • How to raise awareness of this added value that forests are offering
  • How to create a common understanding of the sustainability of a forest-based bioeconomy, including the potential use of forest-based indicators for bioeconomy monitoring and assessment
