Connecting knowledge and action

Our mission highlights EFI’s role in generating, expanding and facilitating the use of knowledge in forest-related decision-making. Knowledge is not only transferred to support action, but also co-created between science, policy, practice, and civil society actors through ongoing interaction and mutual learning.

By “knowledge,” we refer to a broad spectrum that includes scientific research, expertise, practical experience, traditional and local knowledge, and policy insights. Our mission signals a commitment to ensuring that this diverse knowledge base is accessible, actionable and relevant, while being grounded in robust evidence.
