Jeanne’s work focuses on European forest governance and EU forest policies, with particular attention to forest ecosystem services and the ways in which stakeholders perceive, value, and engage with forests.

Her interdisciplinary background brings together law, environmental policy, and forestry. After completing a Master’s degree in Law at Stellenbosch University in South Africa and qualifying as an attorney, she moved into environmental and forest policy. She later earned a Master’s degree with honours in Tropical and International Forestry from the University of Göttingen in Germany. Before joining EFI, she completed traineeships, including at the European Commission DG CLIMA. She is a PhD-candidate at Wageningen University in the Netherlands.

Her interests centre on how forests and societies evolve together over time — shaped by policy choices, cultural values, and social-nature relationships.
