Jo has over 25 years of experience with forest-related research and policy advisory services.
His work spans five main thematic areas, covering the development of holistic user-centric forest monitoring and assessment by criteria and indicators; forest legality and deforestation-free commodities; bilaterial trade flow data analysis and systems design; innovation in the development of the forest-based bioeconomy; and policy analysis and policy support.
Besides his work in EU framework programme-funded research projects, Jo has worked in policy support projects contracted by most EC Directorates General (ENV, AGRI, ENER, GROW, JRC, Eurostat), and international organisations including EEA, ESA, FAO, ITTO, UNEP and World Bank.
