EFI joins the European Reference Genome Atlas as an Associate Partner
EFI is pleased to announce that we have joined the European Reference Genome Atlas (ERGA) as an Associate Partner. ERGA is a pan-European initiative dedicated to generating reference genome sequences for all European eukaryotic species.
This partnership, formalised in early 2026, reflects the alignment between EFI's work on forest genetic diversity and ERGA's mission to advance biodiversity genomics across Europe. As an Associate Partner, EFI will participate in ERGA Council meetings as an observer, and engage with ERGA's initiatives and calls, particularly those with a genetics focus.
We look forward to contributing to this collaboration through our ongoing work with the new European Union funded MEDFORGEN project and with the European Forest Genetic Resources Programme (EUFORGEN), for which EFI hosts the Secretariat, aiming to strengthening the connection between forest genomics research and broader European biodiversity policy.
