Open post at our member organisation the University of Freiburg
The University of Freiburg offers Tenure Track Professorship in Silviculture and Climate Change Adaptation. In times of rapid climate change, silvicultural research needs to focus on strategies to maintain or develop resilient and adaptive forests. This is particularly important in Central Europe with forests managed on long-production cycles and for a wide range of ecosystems services. Thus we are thrilled that the first of several professorships in support of the Future Forests Cluster of Excellence has been advertised by the Faculty of Environment and Natural Resources at the University of Freiburg. The research of this professorship (W1) is expected to focus on silvicultural strategies for adapting forest ecosystems to climate change.
The Future Forests Cluster of Excellence with its interdisciplinary research approach to study adaptation of forest social-ecological systems provides the perfect environment for this professorship with plenty of opportunities to collaborate with a wide range of disciplines to tackle complex research questions. Teaching will be anchored within the BSc and MSc forest science degree programs of the Faculty of Environment and Natural Resources, including the new MSc Profile “Future Forests”.
Deadline for applications is 31 August 2026.
More information about this position can be found on the University of Freiburg website.
