Integrated nature conservation in forests: an international comparison of policy-making at the sub-national levelBiodiversity conservation in European forests requires implementing nature conservation in the productive forest. To a certain degree, the effectivity of such measures is often decided in the the policy-making phase already. The project assesses the potential effectiveness of respective measures in countries with similar forest structures – Germany, Austria and Switzerland – and for selected sub-national jurisdictions (Cantons, Länder) and compares within, but also across those three countries, how policy formulation is dependent on different structures of actor constellations, the science-policy interface and the federalistic structure of forest and nature conservation policies.
