EUDR Community of Practice public session shares lessons from six months of technical exchange

On 17 September 2026, the EUDR Community of Practice (CoP) hosted an open public session to share key lessons identified during its first six months of technical exchange. The session brought together members of the wider Community of Practice and provided an opportunity to reflect on common implementation challenges, discuss practical experiences and explore next steps for collaborative learning under the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).

Launched in March 2026 by the European Forest Institute and the EU Sustainable Supply Chains Coalition (EU SSCC), the EUDR Community of Practice serves as a neutral platform for dialogue among businesses, producer-country representatives, EU Competent Authorities, civil society organisations, technical experts and the European Commission. The initiative was created to support practical implementation of the EUDR through the exchange of experiences, challenges and solutions across supply chains.

The public session presented insights emerging from four Core Group meetings, two ad hoc discussions on service providers and certification schemes, and a series of technical exchanges. Participants heard about recurring challenges and approaches identified across commodities, producer countries, competent authorities and operators, drawing on practical case studies and discussions held throughout the year.

As part of its commitment to transparency and knowledge sharing, the EUDR Community of Practice makes the outputs of its activities publicly available, including presentations and reports. The public session marked an important milestone in ensuring that insights generated through technical discussions can be shared more broadly and contribute to ongoing dialogue on effective EUDR implementation
