Exploring closer cooperation with Portugal
EFI Director Robert Mavsar met with Chief of Cabinet José Manuel Rodrigues at the Portuguese Ministry of Agriculture during a recent visit to Lisbon.
They discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between Portugal, an EFI Member Country, and EFI, and explored opportunities to work more closely on shared interests.
Mavsar also delivered a keynote at the opening of FLORESTA – Uma Experiência de Raiz, a new interactive forest exhibition held at the Pavilhão do Conhecimento – Centro Ciência Viva in Lisbon on 23 October.
In his keynote, “What Is a Forest?”, Mavsar explored the ecological, economic, social and cultural importance of forests, how they have shaped societies and the uncertainties they face.
He highlighted the close connection between the resilience of forests and the resilience of societies. Responding to future changes will require science and knowledge, alongside trust, dialogue and long-term thinking.
