FoRISK continues to implement its 2026 action plan

On March 12, the FoRISK Secretariat met its Steering Committee members in Alnarp, at the SLU Forest Damage Centre, with representatives from Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Norway, Czechia, Slovakia, Latvia, Greece, the United Kingdom and Ireland to finally agree on the Multi-Donor Trust Fund rules. This Fund is currently managed under the European Forest Institute in Bonn, Germany.

The active commitment of their country members marks the FoRISK common goal of achieving resilient forests across pan-Europe, focusing on three main focal areas: wildfires, windstorms, and biotic agents.

Among the different plans and activities shared during this meeting with the Steering Committee for 2026, the following stand out:

• They will create guiding fact sheets on the biotic agents present in seven pilot countries, including recent trends, best practices and transboundary risks.
• In May, the EFI Senior Expert, Alexander Held, will participate in the next Forest Camp 2026 in Poland with SNEP (Association of Independent Fire Experts). He will be an instructor focusing on live-fire exercises and innovative operational solutions.
• The Forest Watch campaign will be launched on FoRISK social media with the aim of engaging with observer organisations and giving visibility to good-practice examples of forest disturbance management across pan-Europe.

FoRISK is an implementation mechanism under the aegis of Forest Europe, the pan-European voluntary high-level forest policy process, with the overall objective of enhancing the resilience of forests and the forest sector by supporting transboundary and cross-sectoral risk management within the framework of sustainable forest management.
