 Alexander  holds an MSc in Forest Science from Freiburg University. He started in fire ecology with the Max Planck Society and later worked in fire management in across multiple continents. Before joining EFI in 2012, he worked with the South African Working on Fire Programme.

At EFI, he focuses on forest fire and climate resilience through knowledge exchange and cooperation in Europe. His expertise includes fire management, silviculture, and wildlife management. He takes a whole system view of forests, where biodiversity is central and ungulate management is a key precondition for resilient landscapes.
