GeoRoots

Published 1 February 2026 By Carlos Riano
GeoRoots is a browser-based tool for creating, checking, and editing geolocation information for EUDR compliance.

GeoRoots is a suite of open-source, browser-based tools designed to simplify compliance with the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) through enhanced geo-traceability. The toolkit provides a user-friendly way to create, validate, and manage GeoJSON files, the standard format required for submitting land plot coordinates.

By operating entirely within the user's browser, GeoRoots ensures maximum data privacy while allowing stakeholders to convert spreadsheets, visualise plots, and merge complex datasets without the need for specialised software or subscriptions.

These tools lower technical and financial barriers for smallholders and cooperatives to manage geolocation information, supporting their inclusion in transparent, legal, and deforestation-free global supply chains.
