Closer-to-nature forestry promotes the processes and structures of natural forests and cultural woodlands at different stages, helping to increase biodiversity and safeguard ecosystem services. Yet this approach to sustainable forest management is sometimes not well known among forest managers and owners. Forest advisors play a crucial role in changing that: encouraging natural tree regeneration, ensuring respectful harvest conditions, minimising other management interventions, and preserving and restoring forest soils.

This session of FOREXT Fridays explores good practices and tools to promote closer-to-nature forestry, with practical examples from the ground.
