The European Network of Forest Extension Organisations (FOREXT) offers support and  international cooperation opportunities to forest extension organisations.

Forest extension covers activities of state administration directed towards supporting private forestry. It supports organisations to build capacities in training and education of private forest owners, supporting the development of their associations, the preparation of forest management plans for private forests, inventorying and marking of private forests, and enforcement of forest legislation in private forests, as well as providing subsidies for more sustainable forest management and organising the sale of wood from private forests.

The network was officially launched on 1 October 2019 as the 12 founding members signed the Memorandum of Understanding. EFI hosts the FOREXT Secretariat.
