Ian focuses on topics of urban forestry, nature-based solutions, green infrastructure and stakeholder participation. He has extensive policy and practice experience from participatory forestry, greenspace/GI planning, multi-agency partnerships and co-creation approaches.

 Prior to working with EFI, he gained many years’ experience with public sector organisations and NGOs where he co-ordinated environmental and greenspace partnerships involving diverse stakeholders from government, businesses and civil society. 

His PhD  is from RWTH University of Aachen focused upon Green Infrastructure and Citizen Participation approaches. He also hold an MSc in Natural Resources Management from Bangor and an MA(Hons) in Geography from the University of Edinburgh.
