Published 19 August 2026

Innovation in the forest sector takes many forms. But innovation is not limited to technological innovation, forest-related innovation may involve new or improved products, processes, business models, policy instruments, financing mechanisms, and much more.

The guide “Forest Innovation Readiness” provides an overview of important elements of innovation readiness that need to be addressed and achieved in order for an innovative solution – be it a product or service, a business or social initiative – to achieve adoption and impactful outcomes.

Intended for innovators and innovation promoters in the forest sector, the guide provides clear use instruction and many forestry-related examples. It explains the benefits of applying a multi-dimensional approach to assessing innovation readiness to ensure success by increasing the likelihood of being adopted by intended users and achieving beneficial impacts.
