Building on the current strategy, the development of the EFI Strategy 2040 will follow a participatory approach. This process will engage EFI’s network, including EFI Member Countries, EFI Associate and Affiliate Member Organizations, the EFI Board, the EFI Scientific Advisory Board, and EFI Secretariat staff. This inclusive approach is designed to ensure that the new strategy reflects the diverse perspectives and expertise within the EFI community.
The strategy development process will begin in late 2024, with the EFI Secretariat laying the groundwork by preparing the initial elements of the strategy. From the beginning, EFI’s network will play an active role:
February 2025: A survey will gather input from EFI Member Countries and EFI Associate and Affiliate Member Organizations on the initial concept of the strategy.
March 2025: A webinar will be held to discuss the outcomes of the survey and to foster further dialogue among stakeholders.
June 2025: A second survey will be launched to collect feedback on the advanced draft of the strategy.
September 2025: The final draft of the strategy will be presented at the EFI Annual Conference in Prague.
December 2025: The new EFI Strategy 2040 will be officially launched, marking a significant milestone in EFI's ongoing commitment to building a better understanding on forests in Europe and beyond.
