EFI at the Team Europe Initiative Altamira Summit: Driving action on EUDR
From 3–7 November, the Altamira Summit convened global stakeholders to accelerate progress toward deforestation-free value chains. As part of this flagship event, our EFI team contributed by organising and moderating two technical sessions focused on the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).
Session highlights:
EUDR Dry Runs: Explored practical experiences with readiness exercises, sharing lessons from “dry runs” in key commodity sectors. The discussion emphasized early testing as a way to identify gaps and build confidence before full implementation.
Legality and Due Diligence: Addressed the regulation’s legality requirements and their implications for due diligence. Participants discussed challenges in mapping legal frameworks and verifying compliance in complex supply chains, showcasing collaborative approaches to strengthen trust and transparency.

Marketplace showcase: The summit also featured a marketplace where we shared publications, insights, and demonstrated innovative tools designed to enhance supply chain transparency. Among these was WHIMO (“What is my origin”), a traceability app that helps operators track product origins, and the Legality Due Diligence Navigator, supporting compliance with legality requirements under EUDR.
