MoniFun Grant Call: Blockchain Solutions for Monitoring the Multifunctionality of European Forests
MoniFun has launched its first grant call, inviting projects that aim to revolutionise how forests are monitored and managed across Europe. This call focuses on Blockchain Solutions for Monitoring the Multifunctionality of European Forests. The call will support the exploration of digital solutions, such as blockchain technology, to enable transparent information sharing from decentralized data sources on European forests, forest production and trade as well as forest ecosystem services. These projects aim to enhance the accessibility, reliability, traceability, and efficiency of forest-related data collection and analysis . The broader objective is to equip stakeholders with robust tools that improve decision-making, foster collaboration, and support sustainability efforts.
The application window runs until 16 March 2025, offering a single grant of up to EUR 60,000 for a one-year project. This call supports an innovative project to test MoniFun solutions and explore block chain technology for decentralizing European forest data management.
EFI, a MoniFun partner, manages this grant program. MoniFun will launch additional calls in the future and provide financial support to third parties of up to EUR 240,000, fostering advancements in forest monitoring and addressing key challenges in the sector.

MoniFun is a Horizon Europe project that will co-create a blueprint for a system for monitoring the state and multifunctionality of Europe’s forests, which consolidates currently fragmented information (qualitative and quantitative) into a comprehensive, interoperable information system that integrates existing platforms, and is applicable to the needs of diverse stakeholders, policies, certification schemes and society.
