Carmen holds an MSc in Forestry from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain, and a PhD in Human Geography from KU Leuven, Belgium.
Her research focuses on social innovation and socio-ecological resilience, with a special emphasis on wildfire governance and its societal aspects.
She works on forest and disaster governance, as well as rural and territorial development and innovation. She takes a critical social science perspective and uses qualitative methods such as in-depth interviews, content analysis, focus groups, and innovation action implementation.
At EFI, she has also been engaged in policy support and project management tasks.
