AstraZeneca is taking bold action on climate change while recognising the connection between healthy people and a healthy planet. To play its part in limiting the impacts of climate change, AstraZeneca have committed to Ambition Carbon Zero programme which will drive absolute reductions across all direct and indirect GHG emissions.
Despite ambitious targets to Eliminate, Reduce and Substitute to tackle GHG emissions, in line with the GHG Management Hierarchy, Compensation of residual emissions will be required for AstraZeneca to meet commitments to be Carbon Negative by 2030 and Net Zero by 2045. Compensation of AstraZeneca’s residual emissions, the company will focus on a portfolio of nature-based removals projects. To ensure high quality projects and ensure robust management of commercial and project risks, AstraZeneca has approached the European Forest Institute (EFI) for science-based support for up to five restoration and agroforestry project.
