Increased forest growth as well as increased standing volume require changes in forest management. The objectives of this research cooperation were:
- to describe the history and actual situation of the forests in Europe;
- to develop forest management strategies to improve sustainable management under changing conditions;
- to describe scenarios for forest development under various management regimes;
- to evaluate benefits, costs and risks involved in the various management strategies.
