Implifications of Growth Vision of Wood Product Industry

The project focussed on assessing the availability of wood material for industrial manufacturing under different forest policy scenarios and analysing the likely changes of the structure and trade flows of wood products industry by the year 2010 in United Kingdom, Germany, France, the Netherlands and Poland under the assumption that wood product vision for year 2010 is achieved. This was done by:

  • assessing the biological wood production potentials;
  • analysing the current structure and trade flows of wood products industry and their projections until the year 2010;
  • formulating different options of the impacts of increased wood consumption on domestic wood production of study countries based on biological wood production and trade analysis.
The project also focussed on assessing the current and future carbon budget of United Kingdom, Germany, France, the Netherlands and Poland under alternative forest management scenarios assuming that wood product vision for year 2010 was achieved. Carbon budgets includes carbon stocks and stock changes in tree biomass, soil and wood products.
