Junior Researcher

Tanja Kähkönen’s current research focuses on agroforestry - innovations, extension services, and business models. Her broader expertise, research interests and experience are in a wide field of social aspects of forests and forestry, rural business development, regional development, and sustainability transformations. 

While she is a Junior Researcher in Sustainable Markets and Society team at EFI, she is also affiliated as a doctoral researcher to her alma mater, University of Eastern Finland (UEF). Tanja has a double MSc degree in European Forestry (UEF) and Forest Management (SLU, Sweden), and MSc in Agriculture and Forestry in Environmental Management of Forests (University of Joensuu, currently UEF). She is also a Professional Teacher with Finnish pedagogical qualification.
