Regions are crucial for the place-based transition towards a sustainable forest bioeconomy. They develop and implement policy instruments, bioeconomy strategies, and tailored funding and financing mechanisms to overcome challenges and promote the green transition.
On 28 November 2024, the Bioregions Facility, on behalf of the regional governments of North Rhine-Westphalia, the Basque Country, and Catalonia, is organising the Bioeconomy Regions Summit in Brussels, Belgium.
The event aims to facilitate dialogues around the development of sustainable forest bioeconomy in European regions, building on positive experiences and identifying areas to move forward. Discussions at the summit will focus on place-based transitions, the strategic tools and instruments for bioeconomy development at the regional level, and a strengthened regional dimension in the design and implementation of forest bioeconomy-related policies.
