EFIMED December Newsletter 2025

The December edition of the EFI Mediterranean Network News closes 2025 with a strong focus on resilience, cooperation and innovation across Mediterranean and European forest landscapes, highlighting key project milestones, new tools and policy-relevant research.

This issue is anchored by the conclusion of the ResAlliance project, which reflects on three years of collaboration to strengthen landscape resilience across Mediterranean agriculture and forestry. Through regional LandLabs and a wider network of practitioners, ResAlliance shows how local engagement, shared learning and cooperation across sectors and scales can help landscapes cope with climate pressures such as drought, wildfire and land degradation. Related features explore lessons on breaking silos for resilience and how EU forest objectives can be navigated through dialogue and coherence.

Soil health and forest functioning run throughout this December’s issue. Highlights include HoliSoils webinars on soil health, carbon processes and sustainable forest management, updated key messages on forest soils for diverse audiences, and new HuMUS training videos supporting soil stewardship across Europe. The launch of the FoRISK Intelligence Hub adds practical resources on forest risks, while a new EUFGIS webinar presents the upgraded platform supporting collaboration on forest genetic resources.

As always, the newsletter rounds up open calls, events and training opportunities, including the EFI Mediterranean Network Forum 2026 in Valencia, alongside the latest publications and partner newsletters, before closing with season’s greetings from EFIMED and a look ahead to a resilient 2026.
