Farewell to 2024: EFIMED’s final insights on Mediterranean resilience and collaboration
The December edition of the EFI Mediterranean Network News showcases significant advancements in the resilience and sustainability of the Mediterranean landscape. This issue highlights 121 innovative practices from Horizon Europe’s ResAlliance project, aimed at enhancing resilience to challenges such as desertification, drought, and forest fires. These practical solutions, developed in collaboration with agricultural and forestry professionals, promote sustainable land management through a combination of traditional techniques and advanced technologies.
The HoliSoils workshop is also featured, bringing together experts from 18 countries to advance soil sampling methodologies. Additionally, the edition discusses a recent EFI policy brief, which emphasises how active forest restoration can significantly strengthen Europe’s long-term carbon sink.
The newsletter highlights the MoniFun project’s open calls for blockchain-driven forest management and a postdoctoral position within the HoliSoils project in climate-smart forestry.
As always, this edition includes upcoming events and publications from all over the Mediterranean and items of interest from elsewhere.
