Under the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), EU operators and traders will require information for conducting due diligence to demonstrate that commodities, including rubber, are produced in accordance with the EUDR’s legal and deforestation-free requirements.

A new brief, produced by EFI, explains the self-declaration procedure, which was developed to substantiate legal production of domestic timber under Thailand’s timber legality assurance system (TH-TLAS); and explores whether there are lessons for the rubber sector in the context of the EUDR information requirements to establish deforestation-free and legal production.

The brief is based on the results of a study completed in Thailand under the EU-funded FLEGT Asia Programme to look at how the TH-TLAS could inform the structuring of the natural rubber value chain to respond to the EUDR. It was developed together with the Rubber Authority of Thailand (RAOT).
