New faces at the SAB
Prof. Cecil Konijnendijk has been appointed as a new member of the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) of EFI from 1 October 2019.
Cecil is Professor of urban forestry at the Faculty of Forestry, The University of British Columbia, Canada. For the past 25 years he has studied, taught and advised on the role of trees and green space in cities and towns. His particular interests include green space governance (including community involvement), people-nature relationships and cultural ecosystem services, and urban forestry and urban greening.
Prior to UBC, Cecil worked at Wageningen University (Netherlands), the European Forest Institute (Finland), the University of Copenhagen (Denmark), the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (Sweden), and the University of Hong Kong (Hong Kong, China). He was a member of the EFI Board from 2004-2008, and Vice-Chair from 2005-2008.
Prof. Dr. Phoebe Koundouri (Greece), is the new Chair of the SAB from 1 January 2020, and will lead with the support of Dr Gary Kerr (UK) who will act as Vice-Chair.
The SAB met for their annual face-to-face meeting in Aberdeen last week, prior to EFI’s Annual Conference.
