YLP Mediterranean 2025 - Applications

Young Leadership Programme Mediterranean 2025

This edition of the Young Leadership Programme – Mediterranean (YLPMED) will be held in Croatia from 5 to 9 May 2025.

The YLPMED is designed for students and young professionals (practitioners, entrepreneurs, conservationists and environmentalists, government and NGO employees) from different backgrounds connected to Mediterranean forests and forestry. The programme targets people working on research or on sub-related domains, such as communication, journalism, anthropology, political science, 

EFI will select up to 17 young professionals (approximately between 25-35 years old) coming from or working in the Mediterranean (priority will be given for candidates from Southeastern Europe) and working in academia (e.g. PhD students), policy (e.g. civil servants) or practice (forestry or related topics).  

Applicants are asked to provide:

  • A motivation letter describing your professional interest in forest management and forest adaptation to climate change, why you wish to apply to the Young Leadership Programme, and how it will help you develop in your career. 
  • A CV.
  • A supporting letter from your employer, PhD advisor, or any reference person able to comment on your leadership potential.

The YLPMED will be held in English, and all the supporting application must be in English as well.

Eligibility criteria

Applicants to the YLPMED must meet the following criteria: 

  • Young (approximately between 25-35 years old) professionals within 5 years of graduation.
    • Young professional working in academia (e.g. PhD students), policy (e.g. civil servants), or practice (forestry or related topics).
    • Evidence of leadership is required: active participation in relevant organisations/associations; involvement in initiatives with your local community; environmental advocacy experience, etc.
  • Priority will be given for candidates from Southeastern Europe.
