Regional action towards a circular bioeconomy took the spotlight at this year’s European Week of Regions and Cities. 

EFI’s Bioregions Facility organised an interactive online session on 20 October which explored how three regions are developing and implementing transformative roadmaps towards a circular bioeconomy.

European Forest Institute’s project NewGo! will systematically review the knowledge on FLEGT-VPA impacts from the scientific literature as well as key impact areas, and make the review publicly available for researchers and policy practitioners.

The newsletter from EFI's Mediterranean Network is back full of news this September. After a summer break, this month's top story reports on EFI's new publication dedicated to the Circular Bioeconomy of Wellbeing and its 10-point Action Plan. The publication was written by a multidisciplinary team of 25 authors, led by EFI's director Marc Palahí, with the collaboration of His Royal Highness Prince Charles of Wales. This publication is the second in EFI's Knowledge to Action (K2A) series. 

Participants to the EFI Young Leadership Programme 2020, “Mediterranean forests in urbanised societies” enjoyed a lively preview session for the programme on 17 September.

ThinkForest webinar discussed the future of forest policy in Europe

The 6th Ordinary Session of the Council of the European Forest Institute took place virtually on 10 September.

Representatives from 18 of EFI’s 29 Member Countries discussed the exciting developments which have taken place at EFI over the last three-year period, in order to implement the EFI2025 Strategy. These include the development of the EFI organizational ecosystem, to include three Research Programmes (Bioeconomy, Resilience and Governance), five Facilities and two Research Networks.
