EFIMED’s April newsletter: HoliSoils project annual meeting and EFI policy briefs
The EU project HoliSoils, which addresses the management of forest soils for climate change mitigation, takes centre stage in April’s EFI Mediterranean Network News. The annual project meeting, attended by more than 40 international participants, was held at the Sant Pau Art Nouveau site in Barcelona to discuss the recent development of the project and the preliminary results of the main outputs that will shape the HoliSoils toolkit for holistic modelling, management and monitoring of forest soils in Europe.
Beyond the success of this event, the newsletter highlights the recent EFI policy briefs released. In particular, the latest issue number 7 has been published in collaboration with HoliSoils and presents in a summarised and illustrative way how forest soils can increase climate change mitigation with targeted management.
Among the highlights of this month’s contributions, you will also find the premiere of the IUFRO forestry podcast, a survey by the SUPERB project that needs your input on forest restoration practices and new collaborations in academia and PEFC Spain.
As ever, this edition includes calls, upcoming events and publications from all over the Mediterranean, as well as items of interest from elsewhere.
