EFIMED's spring newsletter comes in full bloom!
The European Forest Institute warmly welcomes spring with a newsletter full of news from the Mediterranean network and beyond! In this March edition, we would like to point out that the Mediterranean Forest Week, to be held in Barcelona in November 2024, now has an official visual identity. Soon we will launch the website as well as the registration campaign to attend the event. Stay tuned!
What else has happened this last month in the Mediterranean and what's to come? The European Horizon project INTERCEDE has just been launched to seek market solutions to support forest benefits and services, while existing projects such as HoliSoils held their annual project meeting to share progress within the consortium in the field of forest soil management for climate change mitigation.
March was also a month of celebration! On Women's Day, 8 March, EFIMED covered an interesting exhibition in Barcelona about women working in the forests of Catalonia and the challenges they face in breaking down barriers in a predominantly male-dominated field. In addition, on the 21st we celebrated the International Day of Forests by publishing two articles on the challenges faced by Mediterranean stone pines and their fascinating genetic nature. Don't miss all these inspiring stories!
As ever, this edition includes calls, upcoming events, and publications from all over the Mediterranean, as well as items of interest from elsewhere.
