Göran Persson, former president of EFI’s ThinkForest forum, is to support EFI in developing new activities and projects on the emerging topic of sustainable finance, forestry and the bioeconomy.

His collaboration with EFI will continue over the next two years, with the aim of organizing the first ever Circular Bioeconomy Investment Summit in 2021 in Stockholm, with EFI and other relevant organisations. EFI Special Advisor Esko Aho will also join Mr Persson in this new initiative.

Mr Persson retired in June 2019 as the President of EFI’s high-level discussion forum, ThinkForest, which he chaired since its launch in 2012. He served as Prime Minister of Sweden from 1996 to 2006 and was the leader of the Swedish Social Democratic Party from 1996 to 2007. Since leaving office, Mr Persson has been a consultant for the Stockholm-based PR firm JKL. He is also a Member of the Board of the World Resources Institute.
