TEI at COP30: Building Partnerships and Solutions for Deforestation-Free Value Chains
On 19 November 2025, the Team Europe Initiative (TEI) on Deforestation-free Value Chains hosted a high-level side event at COP30 in Belém, Brazil, bringing together senior representatives from the EU, partner countries, the private sector, and civil society. The event showcased TEI’s progress since COP28, with over €85 million mobilised and partnerships established with more than 35 producer countries across six value chains.
Speakers noted that market competitiveness and environmental protection are mutually supportive. The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) is increasing demand for sustainable, traceable products, benefiting both ecosystems and producers. Panelists also emphasized the importance of supporting smallholders, utilizing digital tools, and fostering international cooperation.
