Since its creation in 2022, the International Partnerships Facility has been working on different projects that contribute to safeguard the world’s forests.
Our ongoing programmes: Partnerships to protect and restore forests
We collaborate with governments, civil society, the private sector, and international organisations to protect and restore forests. Our work includes developing sustainable management tools, supporting legal frameworks, and fostering inclusive global partnerships. Together, we aim to combat deforestation and promote sustainable land use.

We support the EU Flagship Initiative on Sustainable Cocoa, in Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana and Cameroon.

We collaborate with commodity-producing countries to assist in transitioning to legal and deforestation-free value chains, in line with the EUDR market requirements.

We support countries to address their forest governance and land use challenges, and act to strengthening forest governance and forest climate change linkages.

An assessment and monitoring tool for capturing evidence in areas of governance applicable to the production, protection and conservation of forests.

We support Cameroon’s efforts in sustainable natural resource management and climate change mitigation.

We promote an inclusive and sustainable forest economies in Côte d'Ivoire though a holistic approach that addresses declining forest resources and strengthens economic resilience.
Our history: Foundations of forest protection
Our extensive experience in developing innovative tools and supporting legal frameworks for sustainable forest management stems from diverse past collaborations. While some programmes have concluded, their impact continues to inform and strengthen our current initiatives in forest conservation and land use.

We worked with partners in Africa and Latin America engaged in FLEGT Voluntary Partnership Agreements.

We supported partner countries improve land-use to combat deforestation, and EU efforts to stop developing country deforestation.

We supported the EU and timber-producing countries in the implementation of the FLEGT Action Plan with a focus on Voluntary Partnership Agreements.

We worked to improve forest governance and promote legal trade of timber across Asia.

We supported constructive dialogue between palm oil producing and consuming communities, as part of efforts towards sustainable production.

We tested solutions to smallholders’ key challenges in pilot projects and shared lessons from these pilots nationally, regionally and internationally.
