The Carob Days is a thematic workshop taking place during the Mediterranean Network Forum, between 25–27 March, in Valencia, Spain. It will highlight the carob’s (Ceratonia siliqua) ecological, cultural, and economic importance across the Mediterranean, as well as its role in agroforestry, conservation, and sustainable value-chain development.
Given the urgent need to strengthen and better structure the carob value chain, Carob Days’ main goal is to connect stakeholders across the value chain - from growers and harvesters to traders, processors, researchers, and industrial users - toward a shared vision for innovation, value addition, and sustainable commercialisation, fostering knowledge exchange and development of innovative practices, so the benefits are shared across all links in the chain.

The programme will include:
Scientific sessions on Carob as a Resource, Sustainable Cultivation Practices for Climate-Resilient Carob Systems in the Mediterranean, Processing, Industrial Applications, and Value Addition, and Market development and trade
Field visits to a Carob plantation and industry
Hackathon: a multi-stakeholder exchange with growers, harvesters, traders, processors, researchers and innovators, and industry representatives to propose solutions to strength the carob value chain.

A full detailed programme will be available soon. The preliminary agenda is available here.
