Support to forest governance platforms and tree tenure reform in Ghana
An event this week marked the launch of EFI’s work in Ghana to support multi-stakeholder forest governance platforms and tree tenure reform.
Through this work, EFI will strengthen the participation of civil society organisations (CSOs), communities and the private sector in Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT) decision-making platforms. We will also support these groups as the operational phase of the FLEGT Voluntary Partnership Agreement (VPA) with the European Union (EU) progresses, and enhance their capacity to engage in budding tree tenure policy reforms.
Funded by the EU and overseen by the EFI-implemented EU Sustainable Forest and Cocoa Programme, this work is being implemented by Taylor Crabbe Innitiative in partnership with EcoCare Ghana, the Nature and Development Foundation, Tropenbos Ghana, and Rights and Advocacy Initiatives Network.

The launch event brought together key stakeholders involved in forest governance and tree tenure reform in Ghana, including government, CSOs, the private sector and development partners, to introduce the work, its objectives, and kick off initial discussions.
