Traceability

As a key aspect of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), we supported Indonesia and Malaysia in strengthening palm oil supply chain traceability.

Traceability

Indonesia

A national traceability platform to track palm oil from the farm to the point of export was developed with KAMI support. Development of the web-based platform and mobile app included consultations with national stakeholders and field testing of the app with a palm oil cooperative and mill in Central Kalimantan. When fully implemented, it should allow smallholders and other supply chain actors to access global supply chains.

The traceability platform links to the ‘National Dashboard for Sustainable Commodity Data and Information’ being developed by the Indonesian Government for the exchange of data and information on commodities traded in international markets. It will provide information to help assess whether commodities were produced legally and without deforestation, aiming to be a key source of information relevant for EUDR due diligence.

Malaysia

We supported work to strengthen palm oil supply chain traceability through identifying sources of information to help meet the needs of palm oil producers, and particularly smallholders, in demonstrating legal and deforestation-free production to global markets.
